According to reports, the British police are now investigating six claims of sexual assault or assault by Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey. While the police in Britain did not identify Spacey by name, they said that they had received a total of five allegations of sexual assault and one of assault against a man. Anonymous sources close to the case confirmed that Spacey is the subject of the investigation.
Spacey has been accused of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior by dozens of men. In addition to the three allegations against the former “House of Cards” star previously announced by London’s Metropolitan Police, an additional three accusers have come forward with information leading to further investigations. The Metropolitan Police said that officers from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating the claims.
Two of the most recent allegations came in November 2017, when two victims separately reported they were sexually assaulted by the same man in Lambeth in 2005 and 2008. A third allegation of an incident that supposedly occurred in Westminster in 2005 was reported the following month. Spacey maintained a residence in England at the time of the allegations.
In the months since the allegations became widespread public knowledge, Spacey has been fired from the political drama “House of Cards” and erased from “All the Money in the World”, a movie directed by Ridley Scott. The fallout has also affected other businesses associated with Spacey.
London’s Old Vic theater, where Spacey was artistic director for 11 years, said that it had received 20 allegations of inappropriate behavior by Spacey, and had encouraged 14 of those making the allegations to go to the police. The Kevin Spacey Foundation U.K. has decided to shut down saying in a statement that its trustees have concluded the work of the foundation “is no longer viable.”
